Youth Without Youth - Movie Info

Youth without youth movie on Grimpuppy.com The BlogThis is an amazing and imaginative movie, There is really too much fun, it seems that all the fantesy takes up my mind lacking conscious awareness.Francis Ford Coppola(the director) is so conversant with film that I’m afraid to call him “wizard” is not too much. The story, a simple point is that it’s a film version of the West like “dreaming butterflies” which is a classic chinese literary quotation written by Zhuangzi. The beginning of the film is very wonderful, displaced in the lighting on the screen, my mind is filled full with a paradoxical impression.Like Jim Morrison said:” Some things are known, some things are unknown, and in between them there is the door…” Francis Ford Coppola appearently understands the phrase deeply, links the known death and the unknown dream together with no doubt, those what looks like the stars in the night sky, how do feel like Tolstoy’s description of hisdreams in his old years:” just some red, white, square, round…”

'Touch of Evil': 50 Years Later

We take a look back at one of the great crime films ever made, a film noir that was immediately forgotten about but now is revered as a classic: Orson Welles' 'Touch of Evil,' celebrating its 50th anniversary this year. - Post from bigpicturecolin on Digg

Sample from story: It has been half a century since Touch of Evil made a small ripple as a seedy little crime movie, but since then, that ripple has become a tidal wave of appreciation for not just the film but also its director, Orson Welles.

Welles could never live up to Citizen Kane, his debut made as a 25-year-old maverick that would eventually be remembered by most critics as the greatest, most influential film of all time. It's doubtful that any director could match Kane, regardless of whether or not it was their first film. Welles had other obstacles, however. - Read the full story on getthebigpicture.net

Eight Things We Demand from Transformers 2

Michael Bay has said in the past that he demands things to be awesome. In a similar way, we have always demanded the same of his films. And with the exception of a few, he has always come through. Last summer, he came through in a big way with Transformers, a CG-filled romp through the childhoods of many 80s babies that not only entertained us, it made the hairs on the back of our collective neck stand on end with excitement. And in the wake of his success with the first, he has already moved on to begin production on round two, dubbed Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen. And with this second round, we will be demanding that he take it up a notch and deliver a film that is even more “awesome” than the first. In order to do that, we think that there are a few must haves — therefore we are happy to present “Eight Things We Demand from Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen” (in order for it to be awesome) - View Full Story and List on filmschoolrejects.com

Flash Gordon, Highlander Remakes Announced

With Iron Man showing that a movie can prominently feature a man being propelled into the heavens on a rocket, and make a bajillion dollars, it's apparently okay again to show a man inside a rocket being propelled into the heavens as well. As the winners of a studio bidding war, Sony Pictures announced this week their plans to revive Flash Gordon as a feature film franchise - From rottentomatoes.com

Highlander - This time around, the project's new producers are promising a more "romantic" Highlander that will stress Connor MacLeod's love for a non-immortal woman, with a script to be written by the writers of Iron Man (Art Marcum and Matt Holloway). This project, then, proposes the question I bet you didn't think you'd have to ask yourself today: who is the 21st century equivalent of Christopher Lambert? - From rottentomatoes.com
