'Speed Racer' Gets Hammered on Opening Day


Not even in the rear view mirror for 'Iron Man,' the week's most hyped new release, 'Speed Racer,' wasn't even the most seen new release on Friday night, as the new Wachowski Brothers movie failed to overtake even 'What Happens in Vegas... - From The Digg

The new Wachowski Brothers adaptation of the cult cartoon classic opened the weekend in third place, nowhere near Iron Man and a full million bucks behind What Happens in Vegas. You can't predict the future based on one day, certainly (hell, even Spider-Man 3 underperformed its own projections after shattering previous records on opening day), but it does not look good for the $100 million flick. Hotel employee accused of letting homeless guests stay free


A 23-year-old Bloomington hotel employee accused of letting a number of people stay in rooms without paying has told police she let them stay only because some of them were homeless.Some of the unpaid guests were found in a hot tub, and police said the five rooms had been occupied by about 20 people. - From Digg

Ford surprises with $100 million profit in 1st quarter

FoMoCo surprised the industry and Wall Street today with the announcement of a $100 million profit for the first quarter of 2008, an improvement of $382 million from a year ago. The profit was due to strong European and South American sales which helped offeset the impact of sluggish U.S. sales.
