Jessica Alba wants you to vote
Declare Yourself is an organization that hopes to motivate young people to register to vote, and actress Jessica Alba supports their cause. There's nothing wrong with getting people to vote, in fact, I'm totally for it. But their ads featuring Alba seriously freak me out. (see ad pics below)
Earlier this month the 27-year-old actress appeared in an ad bound by black electrical tape, looking fearful, with a strip of tape wrapped around her mouth.
Their latest ad features Alba with her face in a Silence of the Lambs style muzzle, her hair all messed up, tears rolling down her cheeks and a fearful look on her face.
Is it just me, or are these ads seriously creepy? They make me sad, and honestly, they make me want to vote. Not because I don't want to silence myself, but because I want this photographer to stop torturing Jessica Alba. - Story by: tatiana on zimbio.com.

GP Found Joke Of The Day - #7 Sept. 27th 2008

When Bill and Hillary first got married Bill said, "I am putting a box under our bed. You must promise never to look in it." In all their 30 years of marriage, Hillary never looked. However, on the afternoon of their 30th anniversary, curiosity got the better of her and she lifted the lid and peeked inside.
In the box there were 3 empty beer cans and $1,974.25 in cash. After dinner, Hillary could no longer contain her guilt and she confessed saying, "I am so sorry.. For all these years I kept my promise and never looked in the box under the bed. However, today the temptation was to much and I gave in. But now I need to know, Why do you keep the empty cans in the box?"
Bill thought for a while and said, "I guess that after all these years you deserve to know the truth. Whenever I was unfaithful to you, I put an empty beer can in the box to remind myself not to do it again."
Hillary was shocked, but thought to herself, "I am very disappointed and saddened, but I guess after all those years away from home on the road, temptation does happen and I guess three times is not that bad considering the number of years we have been together..."
They hugged and made their peace. A little while later, Hillary asked Bill, "So why do you have all that money in the box?"
Bill answered. "Well, whenever the box filled up with empty cans, I took them to the recycling center and redeemed them for cash."

Tent Cities for Homeless on the Rise in United States
The Washington DC based National Coalition for the Homeless says 61 percent of local and state homeless organizations have registered an increase in homeless people since 2007. The problem is being attributed to home repossessions, the credit crunch and rising unemployment. The picture shows just such a tent city in Reno, Nevada. Reno suffers from one of the highest home repossession rates in the United States and this tent city sprung up to a population of 150 people very quickly. Sylvia Finn, 51, tells of how she lost her job in Northern California, couldn't keep up with rent payments and has little choice but to settle here. Soup kitchens in the area report serving hundreds of more people a day than usual. (cont.) - Read The Full Story On allvoices.comFound on Reddit by user JazzJayZee

N.Y. poised to OK marijuana for medicinal use
Last year the Assembly passed a bill that would legalize medical marijuana; a new version of the bill has moved out of the codes committee, and another version is pending in the Senate. Those who support the bill are optimistic that this is the year New York legalizes medical marijuana. The Assembly bill, sponsored by Rep. Richard Gottfried, D-Manhattan, would allow patients to use marijuana only if they have life-threatening or debilitating conditions, and only if their doctors believe it would be the most effective treatment. Patients and caregivers would register with the state and receive identification cards that would allow them to legally purchase marijuana for medicinal use. They would be allowed to grow up to 12 plants and to possess up to 2.5 ounces of marijuana, though a state-regulated distribution system would eventually replace home cultivation. This transition would hinge on the federal government’s approval of the state-regulated distribution system.
