According to the March 2009 issue of the Homeless Commission's newsletter, during its previous Project Homeless Connect 1,078 participants received over 5,500 services. Twenty-nine chronically homeless people began the process of obtaining housing, with a total of 68 housing units being pledged for homeless people by area service providers. J.J.'s Star Trek is officially the biggest ever - scifiwire.com

J.J. Abrams' Star Trek has ended its official theatrical run after 21 weeks, and an accounting by our friends at TrekMovie.com shows that, in inflation-adjusted dollars, it had the biggest box office of all the Trek movies (see chart below).

Here's their analysis:

The final tally, as of last Thursday, brings the film a few thousand short of $385 Million world-wide, which is certainly a big success, especially for a franchise that was given up for dead by some just a few years ago. ...

According to Box Office Mojo, Star Trek's domestic tally is $257.7 over the 147 day theatrical run. This includes $28.1 Million for IMAX (or around 11%). This makes it the highest-grossing and highest-attended film in the Trek franchise.

In broader terms, Abrams' film places in the top 50 (number 47, to be precise) of the highest-grossing movies of all time (180th adjusted for inflation).

Voltron Movie Still Alive, UTA Looking for New Writer - filmschoolrejects.com

FilmSchoolRejects Brings us some new news and updates on a Voltron movie in the works. - Grimpuppy

Just when you thought those giant cat-bots of Voltron were dead in the cinematic waters, someone swoops in and starts talking again. The last update we made here on FSR was a rumor about Max Makowski, director of “Queer Eye for the Straight Guy,” being tapped to direct. Since then, mostly crickets. In July, THR’s Risky Business reported that The Dark Knight producer Charles Roven and his partners at Atlas Entertainment had acquired the rights and were pushing things forward, but nothing official has come out since. Until now.

The Hollywood Reporter published word today that UTA has signed on to represent U.S. rights-holder World Events Prods. This will include representation on several platforms, including television, video game and toy deals. Also as part of the deal, UTA is going to assist Atlas Entertainment and Jason Netter’s Kickstart Prods. with the development of a movie. They are said to be leading the search for a new writer:

Voltron also recently was set up as a feature with Charles Roven’s Atlas Entertainment and Jason Netter’s Kickstart Prods.; UTA is expected to help bring a writer aboard and begin shopping the project to studios. - Read Entire Story at

Vikings Defeat Packers 30-23, Move To 4-0

Very good game! Was really looking forward to this game more then any of the year. Not disappointed! And I haven't been a true footbal fan since the days of Walter Payton and the Fridge on the bears. Brett Favre was amazing. Bellow is some pics from the game that now makes the Minnesota Vikings 4-0. - Grimpuppy

You know the backdrop – QB Brett Favre, now with the Vikings, goes up against his former team of 16 years at Mall of America Field at the HHH Metrodome on Monday Night Football. And the action actually lived up to the hype, as the Vikings scored 4 TDs and added a safety to defeat the Green Bay Packers 30-23.

The game was a back-and-forth affair for the 1st half, but the Vikings were able to take a 21-14 lead into the locker room at halftime thanks to a 1-yard Adrian Peterson TD run with just 30 seconds to play in the 2nd quarter. Then early in the 2nd half, Favre lofted a pass down the left sideline for Bernard Berrian, who sped under the ball and hauled it in for a 31-yard score that put the Vikings up 28-14.

A sack of Aaron Rodgers in the endzone during the 4th quarter put the Vikings up 30-14 and then the Purple was able to hold off a late-charging Packers team at the end of the game to produce the winning 30-23 margin.

Favre was vintage Favre, going 24 of 31 for 271 yards and 3 TDs, with zero interceptions. Vikings Head Coach Brad Childress has described Favre as an “equal opportunity passer” and the QB was exactly that on Monday night, completing passes to 8 different players and a different player on each of his 3 scoring throws. - Read More On Vikings Official Website.

Movie Review: Zombieland - Fandomania.com

Starring: Jesse Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson, Emma Stone, Abigail Breslin
Director: Ruben Fleischer
Written By: Rhett Reese & Paul Wernick

In the Zombieland universe, mad cow disease brings about the zombie apocalypse, bathrooms are one of the most dangerous places you can be, and even geeky shut-ins who have issues with germs can survive hordes of the undead if they follow a handful of helpful rules. Zombieland stormed box offices this past weekend, grossing approximately $25 million dollars during its first three days in theaters.

The film revolves around “Columbus” (Jesse Eisenberg of Adventureland, The Education of Charlie Banks, and The Village), an awkward, slightly neurotic antisocial college student trying to find his way back to Columbus, Ohio in an effort to find out whether his parents survived the zombie epidemic brought about by mad cow disease. He develops a set of rules for survival in “Zombieland,” including gems like “Rule #1: Cardio” and “Rule #17: Don’t Be a Hero.” - Read Entire Story at Fandomania.com with full review and pictures!
